Have you been out of work with asthma? Will it get worse at a certain time of year or under stress? Are you worried that your career is starting to be affected and that your lifestyle is being limited?
Only a year ago, I found myself in a similar role. Here I was at home (again!) with a bad bout of asthma and worrying about the health of my career, because it was my eighth day off with asthma that year. That found me searching the internet for a natural cure for asthma, studying the causes of asthma, how they contribute to allergies (which I had as a child) and trying to see what medications and treatments were available. Fed up with growing doses of blue and brown inhalers, which seemed to make me reliant on meds I read around to see if anyone had discovered a good way to manage their asthma without meds.
If you’ve had asthma, you’re probably going to have a awful feeling when another attack comes and your life is thrown into disarray. You can find that the doctors don’t have time to explore alternative therapies, but simply prescribe the normal inhalers at each appointment, check the breathing and lung capacity, and sign off before the next appointment.
What I found was both fascinating and worrying. Evidence has shown that much of our asthma today is exacerbated by our industrialized society. The most alarming thing was that there is little motivation for drug makers or physicians to pursue a natural solution, because they are all making huge profits from traditional inhalers.
Looking for a natural asthma cure, I found reports of people who had discovered new ways to treat their asthma and who had been able to cut off their drugs (with the help of their doctor, of course). There are stories that don’t hit the headlines, but life is changing for the people involved.
I wanted to pursue these “new” ideas-I had nothing to lose and everything to gain-my career was on the line. The easy routines involved took less than five minutes a day, and I could feel the benefits in less than a week. I was able to cut but not cut off my asthma medication and felt much fitter and healthier. Best news of all, I can take a long walk with my son without having to take the inhaler with me. If you’re considering alternative asthma medication, do some research on the internet, consult with your doctor or medical professional, and be prepared to try more than one solution. Make sure you have your inhaler with you at all times during this trial phase. When you try it for more than a day or two, your body can take time to adapt. It works for one person can’t work for you, we’re all different.
